About the Director

Aaron Gemoets is thrilled to be serving as the Orchestra Director at Northwest High School.  Before teaching at NHS, Mr. Gemoets started his career teaching middle school for six years followed by 3 years at Flower Mound High School. 


Mr. Gemoets started playing string bass in sixth grade in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  While at Mayfield High School, he was accepted into the all-state orchestra three times.  Mr. Gemoets graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas Tech University in the fall of 2008.  While attending TTU he studied bass with Paul Sharpe and played in the orchestra under the direction of Gary Lewis.  Mr. Gemoets has enjoyed playing with other Texas orchestras such as Abilene Philharmonic, Big Spring Symphony, and Midland Odessa Symphony Orchestra.  Mr. Gemoets has served as a solo and ensemble judge in Mckinney ISD as well as Denton ISD.  He has also served as a clinician for the TWU orchestra and string methods class, as well as a string bass coach in summer camps such as Texas Tech Band and Orchestra Camp, and University of Texas Arlington Summer Strings.


When Mr. Gemoets is not teaching, he loves spending time with his wife, two daughters and son.  Mr. Gemoets is a big sports fan and loves to watch football and play golf.  You will often see him on Sunday playing either drums or bass guitar at his church.
