NISD Physical documentation.pdf

UIL is aware of a number of questions leading into the 2020-2021 school year related to COVID-19 and UIL activities. We will be providing guidance as it is available.

To support social distancing and assist with the workload of the medical professionals on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, the UIL Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) has recommended adjusting requirements related to pre-participation physical examinations for the 2020-21 school year. ALL INCOMING FRESHMEN OR NEW STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO GET A PHYSICAL AND TURN IN THE FORMS PRIOR TO YOUR FIRST CAMP. I HAVE ATTACHED THE NISD REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION THAT YOU GIVE TO THE PERSON ADMINISTERING THE PHYSICAL.

All students participating in UIL marching band and/or UIL athletic activities will be required to complete a physical exam, and receive written clearance from a physician, physician assistant, chiropractor, or nurse practitioner before any participation in UIL practices, games, performances, or matches.

Any participant in athletics or marching band, in any grade level, who has not previously completed a Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation (PPE), and been cleared for participation, will be required to complete the Medical History Form as noted above, as well as a PPE prior to participation in any UIL practices, games, performances, or matches. BASICALLY, IF YOU TURNED IN A PHYSICAL LAST YEAR TO PARTICIPATE IN MARCHING BAND, UNLESS SOMETHING HAS CHANGED FROM A HEALTH STANDPOINT, YOU ARE EXEMPT THIS YEAR.

Please note that this is only for the 2020-21 school year, and local school district policies still apply. Schools may still require physical examinations of students before allowing participation in these activities, and such decisions are under the jurisdiction of each local school district.

UIL adopted the following guidelines for pre-participation in marching band.  This policy took effect on August 1st, 2019.

C&CR Section 1105:

Marching Band Pre- Participation physical examination. A physical examination signed by a physician, a physician assistant licensed by a state board of physician assistant examiners, a registered nurse recognized as an advanced practice nurse by the board of nurse examiners or a doctor of chiropractic is required. Standardized pre-participation physical examination forms, available from the UIL office and authorized by the UIL medical advisory committee, are required.

All required documentation must be turned in to a band director/color guard director ON THE FIRST DAY OF YOUR CAMP (COLOR GUARD AND DRUMLINE) OR FULL BAND REHEARSAL ON JULY 30TH. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF.

You can get your physical done with your normal doctor or at any credited facility. Here is some info that was sent to me by CareNow. This is not an endorsement, just passing along information.
