Guidelines:

If you are absent a parent/guardian must call the appropriate attendance secretary by 10 a.m.

If you go to a doctor and/or health care provider, a note signed by the provider must be provided to the attendance office upon your return to school.

When returning to school after an absence, a student must bring a note signed by the parent.

A student is considered absent if he/she missed more than 20 minutes of a class. Only a principal, their designee, or the attendance clerk may excuse an absence or tardy.

If a student must leave early:

  • A guardian/parent must send a note or call the alphabet appropriate secretary.

  • Every attempt will be made to verify that it is a parent.

  • If bringing a note the student needs to bring the note to the office before school.

  • When a student leaves campus they MUST sign out in the west office.

Students are expected to remain on the campus until the end of the school day.

  • A student, who leaves for any reason, must have the permission of the Principal, or designee; and a parent must sign the student out in the office or grant permission over the telephone and/or provide a signed note.

  • If a student leaves campus, with permission from the west office, they MUST come to the west office to sign out.

If arriving late to school a student must go to the West Office to sign in. Students will receive a pass to allow them to enter class.

If a student becomes ill during the day they are expected to report to the campus health clinic. The coordinator of the clinic will contact the parent/guardian if necessary.

Any student who leaves the high school campus or does not attend class without following the proper procedure will be subject to disciplinary action. This applies to all NorthwestHigh School students regardless of age.
